Finding the Wedding Photographer that Fits You

There are times in life when cheap is not always what’s best for you. You know, like when you go to the barber shop where they display pricing for discounted hair cuts. As you curiously watch and wait your turn you see your soon to be barber whose nickname is shakes picking up the old straight razor for a shave. Suddenly you break from your daze due to the yelp of a fellow patron. At that point you realize, saving a couple bucks may not be in your best interest.

Your wedding day can be one of the most joyous, and quite possibly most stressful days in your life to that point.  It’s critical that you find a photographer that you mesh well with. Often times the role of the wedding photographer is overlooked until the actual wedding day. They will likely be with you more than just about anyone else on that day, capturing every blissful moment that will likely only be a blur in the end, until you relive the moments through pictures. Don’t be fooled by cousin Frank that just bought a new camera. Photography is an art. Would you expect cousin Frank to draw a great portrait of you if he were supplied with premium paint and paint brushes? Probably not, and the same goes for photography. I may be biased as a photographer, but I have seen it a number of times. Usually it goes like this, as I am shooting a wedding a guest reflects, I sure wish we hired a professional for our wedding. We decided to save money and had a friend volunteer to take pictures for us. They were a good friend but the pictures were awful and now that’s all we have from that day. Wedding and event photography is extremely fast paced, requires a great deal of practice and direction with little room for error. It’s not fair to put a friend in that position either.
